SDA APOSTASY |
CHANGING OUR
RELIGION
The
second event is:
--OUR RELIGION WOULD BE CHANGED AND THE
FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES WOULD BE ACCOUNTED AS ERROR--
After Ellen White's death on July 16, 1915, the apostasy began to gain momentum. It is definitely much easier to secretly implement apostasy without a living prophet of God around! Hence after Sister White's death, the SDA leadership found that they could continue in their plans with ease, making the necessary changes in church structure and fundamental truths to bring men under the control of man, without anyone warning the people about this conspiracy.
But in the infinite mercy of God, He warned His true people about this! Just before the death of Sister White, God sent this testimony of warning about the apostasy and conspiracy:
"I am charged to tell our people, that do not realize, that the devil has device after device, and he carries them out in ways that they do not expect. Satan's agencies will invent ways to make sinners out of saints.
"I tell you now, that when I am laid to rest, great changes will take place.
"I do not know when I shall be taken; and I desire to warn all against the devices of the devil.
"I want the people to know that I warned them fully before my death." Manuscript 1, February 24, 1915.
"And the Lord said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear My words; and went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken My covenant which I made with their fathers." Jeremiah 11:6-10.
"For the Lord spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, Say ye not, A confederacy [conspiracy], to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. Sanctify the Lord of hosts Himself; and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread. And He shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken." Isaiah 8:11-15.
The church members had already been, and were continuing to be, educated to look to man, and trust in man, and expect help from man instead of looking to Jesus (see p 38). They had already been trained to look to and follow the rules and decisions of the General Conference as the voice of God to them. So if the leaders could just keep the people, and especially the young, believing this, then it would mean the success of their plans. And if any questions were to arise about the nature of these plans being brought in, why the leaders would declare that these changes were necessary for the "advancement of the cause of God" (see p 68).
But there were still too many staunch and true historic Adventists during the early decades of the 1900's who were not afraid to sound the alarm and awaken their people if they detected the end result of the plans being enacted. And amazingly, these plans of conspiracy were revealed by some of the leadership themselves!
Arthur G. Daniels, General Conference president from 1901-1922, revealed in 1930 that they could not yet bring about the changes they wanted, but would have to wait until the majority of their "serious problems" and the "certain difficulties that would confront" their plans would die down. He knew "time would be required for certain theological wounds to heal, and for attitudes to modify on the part of some" and "possibly it would be necessary to wait until certain individuals had dropped out of action" before major changes could "wisely be brought forth."(250)
One of the first major or great changes was brought forth nearly 20 years later--in the 1950's. During this time the SDA leadership were having several "assigned" meetings and conferences with the Evangelicals.(251) A man named Walter R. Martin--a Southern Baptist Evangelical minister--contacted the SDA leadership in 1955, asking if he could interview them. Their response was "immediate and enthusiastic."
The discussions and events which occurred are reported in an article in Eternity Magazine by Dr. Donald Grey Barnhouse--a Presbyterian Evangelical minister and founder/editor of the magazine. A summary of the first visit is as follows.
In 1955 Mr. Martin went to the SDA General Conference headquarters in Takoma Park, Maryland and presented to the church leaders about 40 questions asking for their official standpoints on SDA doctrines.
Barnhouse writes:
"On a second visit he [Martin] was presented with scores of pages of detailed theological answers to his questions. Immediately it was perceived that the Adventists were strenuously denying certain doctrinal positions which had been previously attributed to them....
"The position of the Adventists seems to some of us in certain cases to be a new position..." Eternity Magazine, September, 1956.
"...the Adventists had a definite theological platform [by 1847], which through the years has varied little, but which in comparatively recent years has undergone a very definite evolution toward a more forthright declaration concerning the principles of the historic Christian faith, especially as they are embodied in the tenets of orthodox [Evangelical] Christian theology." Eternity Magazine, October, 1956.
"True Seventh-day Adventism [or those doctrines officially defined by the General Conference], despite its differences from us, is one with us..." Eternity Magazine, January, 1957.
When this prophecy came true in the 1950's, our SDA people were shown that they were being betrayed by their own leadership! Yet God had already warned them of this! (see p 37, 45, 47, 87, 88, 124).
God had also warned:
"As a people, we are to stand firm(262) on the platform of eternal truth that has withstood test and trial. We are to hold to the sure pillars of our faith. The principles of truth that God has revealed to us are our only true foundation.(263) They have made us what we are. The lapse of time has not lessened their value. It is the constant work of the enemy to remove these truths from their setting, and to put in their place spurious theories. He will bring in everything that he possibly can to carry out his deceptive designs."(264) Special Testimonies, Series B#2, p 51.
From 1960 through today, the SDA leadership have sought to completely change our SDA religion in every fundamental aspect--especially in regards to the three angels' messages!
These three angels' messages were the original reason for God bringing the Adventist people into existence. God raised up the SDA church out of the great disappointment of October 22, 1844, to live and preach the three angels' messages to the whole world prior to the second advent. This means that the sole foundational basis of existence for the SDA church would be the three angels' messages, and its sole mission in these last days would be the proclamation of these heavenly messages!
The SDA church of today agrees with this.
"What is the Raison D'etre [French for "reason for existence"] of the Seventh-day Adventist church? In short, it is to proclaim to the entire world the gospel in the setting of God's special threefold message [Revelation 14] and thus prepare a people for the coming of Christ." Adventist Review, August 19, 1982, p 13. (see also Ministry Magazine, December, 1992, p 24).
If this occurs, then the sole foundational basis for the existence of the SDA church in these last days would be the counterfeit three unclean spirits' messages of satanic doctrine, and its sole mission would be the proclamation of these spurious doctrines! As such, the SDA church would be no different from all the other churches which have given up the light of heaven. Hence our response to her must be the same as our response to the other churches of Babylon.
Has the SDA church changed the original fundamental doctrinal pillars and teachings on the three angels' messages of Rev. 14 into another three angels' messages of satanic doctrine?
Robert S. Folkenberg, who is the current president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, states:
"...the truth, as we understand it for this end time, is real, it's relevant, it's defensible, it will stand the test of scrutiny." Robert Folkenberg, from a taped Question & Answer talk show titled "Issues and Interviews," hosted by Don Snyder (president of Northern California Conference), February 19, 1993 from 8:00-10:00 pm on KCDS (SDA radio station in Angwin, Calif).
In showing whether the SDA church has changed its position from the original understanding of the three angels' messages, we will be quoting mainly from SDA church magazines, church papers, and taped statements of well known church leaders. Our quotes come not just from individuals, but from the corporate church herself.
Specifically, these church papers are stated to speak for the SDA church: The Voice of Prophecy programs (hence its Voice of Prophecy News paper), and The Signs of the Times. These are "presentations of the Seventh-day Adventist church."(265) Also, and especially, the Adventist Review, which is called "The voice of the church, for the church."(266) The chairman of their board is the General Conference president,(267) and so the Review "has become inseparable from the church. Through the years it has told the story of the church, and continues to do so."(268) Besides, the Review was called "The official organ of the Seventh-day Adventist church."(269)
It will be mainly from these three church papers that we will determine if the SDA church has changed its position on the three angels' messages and our historic fundamental beliefs. We will first state the original foundational beliefs established by the pioneers and upheld throughout the writings of Ellen G. White, and then compare these with contemporary statements to see if the church still adheres only to the historic beliefs, or if she has changed them into satanic messages.
What is the Plan of Redemption or Salvation? It is the "conditional" process(278) whereby fallen humanity can be reconciled back to God.(279) This is accomplished by our working participation and union with God(280) in the keeping of His laws,(281) and in the subduing of every sin in our life through the force of our will(282) which enables us to reflect God's righteousness and vindicate His character before all peoples.(283) Jesus Christ made possible this glorious plan by being born of a virgin, clothing His divinity with, and becoming one with, humanity,(284) taking man's fallen sinful nature upon Him,(285) and then engaging the strong foe's temptations with the inward pulling and drawing towards sin, but never giving in to this.(286) This was necessary in order for Christ to experience and overcome the strong temptations with which Satan tempts fallen humanity. Thus Christ broke Satan's hold upon man,(287) and provided humanity with a perfect example and pattern of how we can also overcome.(288)
Christ never once used His own divine power while on earth,(289) not even for others (angels did all the miracles),(290) but completely worked with and relied upon His Father for help to overcome the great temptations and to sustain Him in His work.(291) Thus Christ had no advantage over humanity, and we can, by uniting with God through Christ by faith, exercise the same powers which Christ had in order to live a pure spotless life out of love for God.(292) Christ bore, suffered, and died upon the cruel cross, rose the third day, and ascended to heaven to minister as our High Priest before God to secure for humanity the choice to serve God or Satan.
Thus the "humanity of Christ means everything to us,"(293) because if Christ did not take on Him our fallen sinful nature, but had an unfallen nature like Adam before the fall or of the angels, then He could not have suffered by being tempted, and would not know what you or I are going through when we are tempted. Thus He could not know how to succor or help us out of the temptation! But praise God this is not the case. Christ did have our fallen sinful nature upon Him, and He did suffer by being tempted. Thus He can help us in every time of need.(294)
What is sin? "Sin is the transgression of the law" of God, or the ten commandments.(295)
What is Justification? Justification is the gift from God of full and complete pardon from past, acknowledged, confessed, and forsaken sins.(296) Justification is manifested by the transformation of character,(297) and is not given or retained while transgressing God's law.(298) It is not "once justified (saved) always justified (saved)!"
What is Sanctification? Sanctification is the continual growing in grace(299) by daily studying God's word(300) and daily dying to self by conforming to God's will.(301) We must keep God's law to attain and maintain sanctification.(302) Thus it means perfect love, perfect obedience, perfect conformity to God's will.(303)
What does it mean to "fear God"? To fear God means to love,(304) reverence,(305) trust,(306) serve,(307) hope,(308) keep His commandments,(309) and depart from evil.(310)
What does it mean to "give glory to Him"? To give glory to God means to reflect His righteous character in our own life and actions.(311)
What does it mean that "the hour of His judgement is come"? This means that the day of God's judgment had arrived on October 22, 1844.(312) Those who had chosen to serve God and continued faithful to Him would be judged worthy of everlasting life,(313) but those who choose to reject God and His means of salvation, and continued in sin, would be judged unworthy of everlasting life.(314) All our sins are being written down in the record books of heaven for the purpose of the judgment,(315) and it starts first with the dead, and then proceeds to the living.(316) The judgment does not free us from sin, but awakens us to the urgency that time is short, and that we must be delivered through Jesus from sin before we are individually judged--being able to stand in the judgment,(317) or we will face eternal destruction.(318)
What does it mean to "worship Him"? To worship God means that we honor, serve and obey God and Him alone,(319) that our spiritual allegiance is to God and Him alone and not to any man or church or government or nation or power.(320)
These are some of the principles of truth contained in the first angel's message upon which the SDA church was raised up and founded upon. But are these truths still only adhered to by the SDA church? Are these truths the only messages being held out to the people, or has the SDA church changed these precious truths of the first angel into an unclean message?
What does the SDA church believe about the Everlasting Gospel being freedom from past sins through justification, and from committing sin through the union of humanity with divinity by using our will power to keep God's law?
"Salvation is by grace alone through faith. Nothing else." Signs of the Times, November, 1986, p 19.
"The gospel is not doing something in order to make ourselves better. It is not reforming ourselves, using our will power to stop bad habits...this is not the gospel....It's good news: not that we should do something for God...it is salvation by faith...`It's all of Grace.'" Voice of Prophecy News, February, 1976, p 6 (H.M.S. Richards, Sr).
Yet this false doctrine is strongly and blatantly taught to the Adventist membership.
"He [Christ] gives us rest...from our own attempt to overcome sin and the devil, and from fighting the battles that Jesus has promised to fight for us....Remember that a gift is a gift." Adventist Review, December 24, 1981, p 5.
In fact, the SDA church admits this:
"As Adventists we believe in teaching the gospel, just like most of the churches around us....We are all saved by grace, not by what we do....
"The Seventh-day Adventist church is unique not in its preaching of the gospel, but in the setting in which it is preached." Adventist Review, September 13, 1984, p 7.
"...the good news about the Seventh-day Adventist Church..." Pacific Union Recorder, September 18, 1989, p 12.
"[Matthew 28:19-20 quoted]. The church has one business: The crucified and resurrected Lord commanded us to make disciples of men and women everywhere, and, after making these people faithful disciples, to teach them to become disciple-makers." Adventist Review, April 7, 1988, p 23.
"When Jesus took the liabilities of fallen man, there was one that He did not take--man's sinful nature." Ministry Magazine, May, 1982, p 19.
But what does the SDA church teach?
"He [Jesus] was born uninfected by sin....His [Christ's] unique sinless human nature...was unlike ours...
"Clearly Jesus did not have a sinful nature...By contrast, all the rest of us are born into the world with these liabilities....this looks like a huge advantage for Christ...
"He [Christ] knows the human struggle in temptations...because of His unique divine nature rather than from an identical human nature." Adventist Review, February 1, 1990, p 19, 22.
"To a degree, perhaps inexplicable this side of eternity, His [Christ's] substitution necessitated [using] His divinity...[at end of article in the footnotes section]...Christ is portrayed...as using His own divine attributes...He could use His own divine powers..." Adventist Review, February 1, 1990, p 21-22.
"All of this leads us to a very practical question: Did Jesus have some sort of advantage over us? Yes, He had an advantage over us..."(322) Ministry Magazine, May, 1982, p 19.
But what does the SDA church teach?
"Because His humanity [nature] was sinless, Jesus could not experience the inner...urgings of sinful humans." Adventist Review, February 1, 1990, p 21.
"The issue in sin is a broken relationship..." Ministry Magazine, May, 1982, p 19.
"...there is only one Justification, and it accompanies the believer from the time of faith's inception...all the way into the final judgment..." Adventist Review, August 11, 1983, p 4.
"Salvation is still given people only on the basis of their faith in Jesus Christ, not because of their faithful keeping of God's law or any of its special parts."(324) Adventist Review, April 12, 1984, p 9.
"...God took the initiative to forgive and accept them in their sins..." Adventist Review, January 7, 1988, p 14.
President of the General Conference, Neal C. Wilson, stated:
"The spiritual disease that has infected all of us is sin...we are all in a sinful state because of the decision of Adam, the corporate head of the human race...by man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and as a result, all men sinned. That is, because of Adam's sin, all men became sinners....
"Beloved, it is time for God's people to humble themselves before Him and admit their true condition. We are sinful by nature." Adventist Review, June 28, 1990, p 8-9.
"You give God glory by keeping alert for things that show He's `alive and a-love'--the wiggly, licky affection of a puppy, the aerodynamic miracle that is a bumblebee, the crisp sweetness of ripe watermelon, the damp, sleepy hug of a bedtime child, the steady pulse of life along your neck." Signs of the Times, March, 1993, p 15.
"The key question is not how to worship, but whom to worship....Worship means that the eternal gospel extends to all nations, tribes, tongues, and people. Worship means focusing on a God who loves our homelands even more than we do....Worship means embracing the hope of a New Jerusalem while living with Babylon all around us." Adventist Review, December 31, 1992, p 10.
"...do we need to fear the judgment of God? Is the news that the day of God's judgment has come (see Rev 14:6, 7) bad news or good news?...
"For those of us who have been sitting out our lives in the devil's prison house, beaten and bruised by the enemy while living in this world of sin, it is good news that the judgment is coming soon and that God's justice will be dealt out against sin. It means that our custody is almost over. It is almost time for us to be delivered." Signs of the Times, November, 1986, p 13.
"...God is not keeping a record of our sins up there [in heaven]..." Adventist Review, September 8, 1988, p 10.
Then what does the SDA church teach is the basis of judgment?
"...the judgment scene...makes it clear that the basis for evaluating our fitness for the kingdom is the way we relate to those most difficult to relate to: the suffering and the outcast." Adventist Review, January 7, 1988, p 14 (emphasis in original).
"The word lost in the New Testament does not mean that someone is damned or doomed." Adventist Review, April 1, 1993, p 21.(325)
We can clearly see that the SDA church has changed the truth of the first angel's message into a message of falsehood, bondage, and corruption. So the SDA church has rejected the truth of the first angel's message, and has replaced it with, and adopted, the first unclean spirit's message!
The Roman Catholic church had already become Babylon many centuries before 1844, and God had chosen the Protestant churches to reveal His truths to the world. But they had, as a corporate body, chosen to depart from the side of Christ--her Husband, and to unite themselves with the world. God mercifully sent the first angel's message to break their harlotrous love affair with the world, and to bring them back to His side as a faithful bride once again. But they refused, and thus became Babylon fallen.(327) And the wine of Babylon is her false doctrines which she is founded upon--namely Sunday observance and the immortality of the soul.(328)
Does the SDA church still teach these principles embodied in the second angel's message? Does she believe that Babylon represents Rome and Apostate Protestantism? What does the SDA church believe that Babylon represents today?
The SDA church believes that Babylon is:
A modern "wicked city" (Signs of the Times, June, 1992, p 29).
The "wickedness of my city" (Adventist Review, December 31, 1992, p 9).
"Evil influences" (Signs of the Times, June, 1992, p 29).
"The archenemy of Christ and His church" (Adventist Review, July 13, 1989, p 11).
"Is still present as a mind-set or attitude" (Signs of the Times, May, 1992, p 13).
"Worshipping anyone but God alone" (Adventist Review, October 15, 1992, p 11).
"Spiritual compromise" (Signs of the Times, Special Issue, 1985, p 8).
To "attempt to gain salvation through one's own works" (Adventist Review, December 31, 1992, p 9).
"...the futility of building one's life on either a try-harder or a do-as-you-please principle...both nations and individuals..." (Adventist Review, September 7, 1989, p 26).
The "Collapse of the Soviet Union" (Signs of the Times, May, 1992, p 12-13).
"Racism, child abuse, death squads, loneliness, crack, torture, separation, death" (Adventist Review, December 31, 1992, p 9).
To "flee evil" (Adventist Review, February 16, 1984, p 7).
To "come out of falsehood" (Signs of the Times, March, 1990, p 28).
"The ideology of continued world progress--that man has the solutions to the besetting problems of our age; that given a little more time, he can, without divine intervention, produce a better world--is the intoxicating wine that Babylon has dispensed to the entire world." Adventist Review, September 7, 1989, p 26.
We can clearly see that the SDA church has changed the truth of the second angel's message into extreme vagueness and falsehood, and are keeping people in bondage to the real Babylon. So the SDA church has rejected the truth of the second angel's message, and has replaced it with, and adopted, the second unclean spirit's message!
"And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities." Revelation 14:9-11, 18:1-5.
The Seventh-day or Saturday only being the Lord's day of worship as the Sabbath,(329) that it is the sign or seal of God,(330) and there is no biblical truth supporting a change to Sunday as the Lord's day.(331) Hence we must keep the Sabbath if we would see heaven.(332)
Religious Liberty being the God-given right to study, stand by, and proclaim only His truth, and to expose error.(333)
The Beast being Roman Catholicism.(334) Also the Pope and the Catholic system as Anti-christ,(335) and our duty to expose both.(336)
The Lamb-like Beast being the United States of America, which gives life to the Image of the Beast.(337)
The Image of the Beast being the Protestant Churches which image Catholicism, including the World Council of Churches.(338) It is formed when the churches unite together upon a platform of common belief in Christ, and "influence the State to enforce their decrees and sustain their institutions."(339)
The mark of the Beast being given to those who worship on Sunday after it has become a law, when they know that it is not God's Sabbath;(340) thus we are not to obey the civil authorities in regards to this law.(341)
The non-immortality of the soul.(342) There is only a grave to rest in death, but no hell to descend into.(343) And the gift of immortality is only given to the righteous at Christ's second coming.(344)
The wrath of God being the literal seven last plagues.(345)
The Sanctuary in heaven(346) with two apartments(347)--the holy place(348) and most holy place.(349)
Christ's work of atonement in the most holy place, or the second apartment of the heavenly sanctuary, going on since October 22, 1844 at the end of the 2300 days, and not final until He finishes His work just prior to His coming.(350)
Christ being the Head or first Minister of His church,(351) our high Priest, and Mediator between God and man.(352)
The true church of God, being founded on Christ and His truth only,(353) having the marks of the true church listed in Revelation 12:17 and 14:12; which "keep the commandments of God," the "faith of Jesus," and the "testimony of Jesus Christ"(354) which is "the spirit of prophecy" (Revelation 19:10) or the writings of Ellen G. White.(355) Hence these writings have their continuing purpose, and are still to be followed today!(356)
The precious conditional gift of the Righteousness of Christ(357) being imputed by faith to every repentant sinner,(358) and enabling us to be accepted by God,(359) and to receive His grace.(360) This grace enables us to overcome all sin, perfecting holiness in the fear of God before Christ's second coming.(361) We must use our will power to take the first step in obedience to God before His grace comes to help us overcome(362) and Christ's righteousness is imparted to us.(363) The law of God is still binding upon the Christian today, and Christ's keeping of it does not free us from having to keep it also.(364) Perfection is not instantaneous,(365) but is progressive throughout the lifetime of one striving and advancing upward on the straight and narrow pathway to heaven.(366) Thus while we are on the earth, no one is saved, or can they say or feel that they are saved until they are in heaven.(367) Christ's robe of righteousness will not cover any unrighteousness nor even one unconfessed sin. Hence no one can find salvation in Jesus while continuing in sin.(368)
We will deal with the subject of the Sabbath later, under the chapter "Lightly Regarding The Sabbath." (see p 217)
"Included in such discussions have been related theological concepts such as the nature of Christ, the nature of man, the nature of sin, perfection, and the question as to whether it is possible for a Christian to live a sinless life. In our judgment these complex theological and biblical issues need not be settled in detail in order to rejoice in the gracious provision of salvation through faith in Christ...We are requesting that we refrain from involving ourselves in public presentations of the fine points and the controversial aspects of the theology of righteousness by faith....
"We should all seek to diminish the flood of cassettes, brochures, books, and miscellaneous documents...This ended the discussion because the voice of the highest authority had spoken." Adventist Review, May 24, 1979, p 4-5 (president Neal C. Wilson).
The Beast is not referred to as being Catholicism, but is referred to as being "the false lord,"(369) or "Satan's human allies,"(370) or, as the General Conference president believes, "the forces that oppose God's last day people."(371)
"...our work is not to denounce the Roman Catholic Church." Pacific Union Recorder, February 18, 1985, p 4 (president Neal C. Wilson).
"...if he was taught that the Pope is the anti-christ, I think that would be a misunderstanding. I don't feel that's what we as a church believe....
"...[the anti-christ], that's not a person. That's not an individual..." SDA Evangelist Kenneth Cox representing the SDA church(372) on "Central Florida Live" TV talk show, hosted by George Crossley, Central Florida TV station WTGL, channel 52, February 8, 1993.
The anti-christ is not referred to as "the papacy," because the SDA church states that the Catholic church has "defended belief in Christ's fleshly nature."(373) But the Anti-christ is referred to as being:
"Former Christians" (Signs of the Times, September, 1990, p 25).
"A mind-set" (Signs of the Times, September, 1990, p 26).
Those who teach "false doctrine" (Adventist Review, October 27, 1983, p 7).
Those who "draw us away from our commitment to Christ" (Signs of the Times, September, 1990, p 26).
Those who "deny that Jesus is the Christ or the Messiah" (Signs of the Times, September, 1990, p 25). [Hence the devil and all his angels cannot be anti-christ either (see Matthew 8:29, Mark 1;24, Luke 4:34)!]
The Lamb-like Beast is not referred to as being the USA, but is vaguely referred to as being "an idol-making power,"(374) "the forces of evil,"(375) or "the antispirit."(376)
The Image of the Beast is not referred to as being apostate Protestantism, but is referred to as being an idol or an image we worship "rather than the Creator-God."(377)
The Image is also referred to as setting "yourself up against the Lord of heaven...this type of idol."(378)
"If he [Lamb-like beast or the antispirit] cannot lead us to outright disobedience (which gives us a mark in the forehead), then he leads us to adopt a token (or surface) obedience (which qualifies us for the mark in the hand).
"This is how the antispirit makes an image to the beast. Surface obedience, not rooted in love, will eventually produce a character like that of the beast." Adventist Review, September 7, 1989, p 23.
The SDA church does not warn against the apostate Protestant churches or the WCC, because they are one of them! Hence the SDA church is not separate from Babylon, but is in union with them.
"...we love one another [Christians of other denominations], and work together. That's what its all about....That's what we [SDA church] are here for(379)--is to profit from one another [other denominations]." Kenneth Cox, WTGL TV interview, February 8, 1993.
The mark of the Beast is not mentioned as being Sunday worship, but is referred to as not worshipping "in the politically correct way."(380)
"Ellen White...[writing about the Sunday laws] told the people do not go contrary to civil authority." Kenneth Cox, WTGL TV interview, February 8, 1993.
The Bible states that "the soul that sins, it shall die" (Ezekiel 18:20). But the SDA church teaches that no one can overcome all sin, and yet God will not destroy you but will make you perfect and take you to heaven, giving you eternal life anyway. That's immortality of the soul!
"...I will always fall short of my potential....Those who are hungering and thirsting after righteousness...[are] striving after an elusive goal..." Adventist Review, December 6, 1984, p 6.
"...God's remnant church is Laodicea which undeniably has its problems. But no less sure is God's offered remedy...The promise that Christ at His coming will `present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing.'" Adventist Review, March 7, 1991, p 10.
"...[the] Apostles' Creed, states: `I believe in God the Father...and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord, who...suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended to hell, the third day rose again from the dead, ascended to heaven...'

Is the SDA church really teaching holy flesh?
"...we are born with a nature that enjoys sinning more than not sinning. So we need new natures....That's what Jesus offers. He promises to change our natures if we let Him." Signs of the Times, June, 1992, p 20.
"The third angel of Revelation 14 warns that in the end the wrath of God, unmixed with mercy, will be poured out on the heads of unrepentant sinners....God gives up such people and turns them over to the results of their rebelliousness....Since faith and love cannot be forced, what else can God do but sadly give up those who reject Him?
"God's wrath...is His turning away in loving disappointment from those who do not want Him, thus leaving them to the inevitable consequences of their own rebellious choice.
"Such [is] a picture of God's wrath..." Signs of the Times, July, 1978, p 19.
In the following 3 page article, "The Sanctuary doctrine and the church's mission," not once is the heavenly sanctuary mentioned to have two apartments, even though the ending of the 2300 days/years is clearly mentioned! It states instead:
"In the heavenly sanctuary, however, Christ Himself entered the sanctuary once and was seated at the right hand of God, that is, instated in His position as mediator..." Adventist Review, February 16, 1984, p 7.
"It is He [Christ] who justifies them by His grace, by virtue of His atonement on Calvary." Adventist Review, January 6, 1993, p 3.
"We see here that his [Aaron's] principle responsibility was to act as mediator, as a link between the holy and profane, between God and man....In like manner the minister of the Gospel today is the high priest....Today we [SDA ministers] are the high priests....What a tremendous responsibility to act as mediators between God and man!" Ministry Magazine, December, 1961, p 27, 29.
"The four classical marks of the Biblical church apply to Seventh-day Adventists: its holiness (in Jesus Christ), its catholicity (universality), its apostolicity (in harmony with the witness of the apostles/founders), its unity (one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism)." Adventist Review, October 1, 1992, p 27 (parentheses and emphasis in original).

"The woman and her offspring represent `those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus' (verse 17 [of Revelation 12]). Those are God's people. Christians! Catholics and Protestants and, yes, if I read my Bible correctly, people from all religions..." Signs of the Times, January, 1995, p 8.
"...[the 9 Volumes of the Testimonies For the Church, which was made up of individual Testimonies] was a particular message to that individual that did not apply to everybody....So you can't take the Testimonies and make that a general application to everybody....[So when] God spoke to her...that didn't apply to everybody." Kenneth Cox, WTGL TV interview, February 8, 1993.

"...we have been discharged from the law...[the Spirit] frees the believer from the law...and fulfills the righteous requirement of the law in him." Adventist Review, November 17, 1983, p 7.
"And it is never our good behavior that makes us Christians--it is only and always our relationship with Jesus Christ. Christianity is a matter of the heart, never a matter of outward actions....And all of our righteousness comes as a result of accepting His righteousness....
"Rest from what?...from worrying about whether we will make it to heaven, from trying to produce our own righteousness. Rest from trying to control ourselves..." Adventist Review, January 2, 1986, p 13.
"...perfection [in Christ]...is relative, or vicarious, in-as-much as it depends on a right relationship to Christ. It is attained instantly(385) by an intelligent act of the will accepting Christ's imputed and imparted righteousness, and is retained throughout life unless a person repudiates his relationship to Christ...He is accounted perfect in heaven, not because he never makes mistakes, but because, despite his mistakes, God credits him with Christ's perfect righteousness. Unconditional dedication to the goal, and uncompromising pursuit of it, are God's only requirements." Review, June 10, 1965, p 12.
"Do you wonder if you are saved?...Do you believe that Jesus is your Saviour? Have you confessed your sins? Have you given yourself over to Him? Then, regardless of how you feel--whether or not you feel `right'--you are saved....Only saved people...are conscious of how short they fall of God's ideal....[Anyone] who loves Jesus knows and can know that he or she is saved." Signs of the Times, June, 1989, p 12-14 (emphasis in original).
"...in the imperfect people around you...you have been able to perceive the robe of righteousness with which He has clothed them." Adventist Review, July 5, 1984, p 3.
"`But,' you say, `I'm not "without blemish,"'...Yes, the blemishes and the blame are still there (as they are for the vast billions of humans everywhere); but nonetheless Christ's sacrifice in our behalf gives Him the astounding right to `present' us before the Father and His universe as `holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.'" Signs of the Times, May, 1986, p 27 (Robert Wieland). (parenthesis in original)
The SDA church has changed the non-immortality of the soul, with the gift of immortality only at Christ's second coming, into being the soul that sins, it shall live, with eternal immortal life in our possession now with new holy natures or holy flesh. They have changed the sanctuary in heaven with two apartments into being a non-specific sanctuary without apparent division.
The SDA church has changed the Head or first Minister of the church from Christ our high priest and mediator between God and man, into being the SDA ministers and leaders as high priests and mediators between God and man. They have changed the identifying characteristics of the true church of God founded only on Christ and His truth, with the marks of the church listed in Revelation 12:17 and 14:12, into being the four marks of the Roman Catholic church.
The SDA church has changed the necessity of following the writings of Ellen G. White today into a requirement necessary only in the past. They have changed the Righteousness of Christ which enables us to be accepted back by God and receive His grace to help us overcome all sin before Christ's second coming into Christ having done it all for us, so we just sit back and slide into heaven. They have changed salvation without sin through Christ's righteousness and personal effort into salvation in sin through Christ's righteousness instantaneously sanctifying and perfecting us because we cannot overcome sin. And they have changed Christ's robe of righteousness not covering any unrighteousness nor one unconfessed sin into Christ's robe of righteousness covering our continued sinning.
We can see with very little trouble that the SDA church has taken all three angels' messages and transmuted them into another form from their original biblical and God-endorsed meanings. So the SDA church has rejected all three angels' messages and replaced these principles of God's truth with the three unclean spirits' messages of satanic falsehood.
Hence, the foundational basis for the existence of the SDA church today is not the real three angels' messages found in Revelation 14 as it was in the beginning, but it is the three unclean spirits' messages found in Revelation 16! The SDA church is not doing the work which God commissioned, but the work which Satan commissioned; it is not preaching the gospel of God, but the gospel of Satan; and it is not fulfilling the mission of God, but the mission of Satan. So when you hear the SDA church talk about doing God's work, fulfilling God's mission, and spreading God's gospel, remember it has nothing to do with God at all, but is all for the devil. And if you support the SDA church with your tithe and offerings, then you are supporting the work and mission of the devil and the spreading of satanic falsehood!
The SDA church has not only rejected and changed these three precious messages, our religion, and accounted our fundamental principles of truth to be error, but they have also replaced the true SDA leaders and ministers, who refused to give up these truths, with new leaders and ministers who preach satanic falsehood from the hellish torch of Satan! Yet, we have already been warned that such a terrible thing would happen (see p 83)!
The church has educated a whole new generation of SDA's to accept the new false three angels' messages, and are now united upon this false new foundation and platform of Babylonian error. And all this has been admitted to by SDA leadership!
"Not until some voices ceased, and a new leadership came to the fore in certain sections, could certain tenets of truth come into their own in general, unhandicapped acceptance. Pockets of resistance had to die out, with a new generation coming to the fore uninhibited by past impediments and circumstances. That took time. The change has now taken place. A new generation of workers and laity are upon the stage of action....We are now united upon a sound platform of Fundamental Beliefs. We are now ready for the great final phase of the Advent Movement--the final, rapid movements that have been depicted." Eternal Verities Triumphant, p 50, 52, by LeRoy Froom. (This is a Syllabus preceding publication of Movement of Destiny)
"Each generation must find its own vision. We can't live on the vision of Ellen White....
"We must capture a new vision today for this generation. Let it begin here and let it begin now!" Adventist Review, August 18, 1994, p 9.
"The Seventh-day Adventist church is privileged, I believe, to have a treasure in our understanding of the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation, and particularly the message of Revelation...the three angels' messages. And the good news is that the proclamation of the gospel message and the three angels' messages...is our highest priority by every means possible: through the spoken word from the pulpit of our churches; through the medium of public evangelism; by means of the airways and the media; through our institutional program, our publishing program; and through every avenue that's available to us. That is our highest objective, and it is the standard against which we measure our accomplishment....
"But take it clearly from me, there is no adulteration or undermining of any of the fundamental beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist church. Take it as a simple statement of fact....Please take my word for it. The General Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist church stand behind our historic Adventist beliefs unequivocally. We preach them, we preach them clearly and fervently and compassionately." Robert Folkenberg, "Issues and Interviews" on SDA radio station--KCDS, February 19, 1993.
It is clear from all the evidence that the SDA church has definitely given up our historic SDA beliefs, and they have no desire to return back to them. The SDA church and its leadership intend to install this "new theology" into the minds of our people. They even esoterically call this new theology "present truth," but this does not mean the historic doctrines which our pioneers taught, but the new and "present" doctrines which the SDA church is teaching today.
In fact, the SDA church states this!
"The need of the church today is not so much a return to historical Adventism but a clear focus on present truth..." Messenger, October, 1994, p 2.
"Most of the founders of Seventh-day Adventism would not be able to join the church today if they had to subscribe to the denomination's Fundamental Beliefs." Ministry Magazine, October, 1993, p 10.
"`Historic Adventism.' Some [historic Adventist's] talk about `historic Adventism'. They claim that the organized Church has somehow slipped away [from following it]...Beware of so-called historic Adventists!" Robert Folkenberg's Address at the Scottish Mission Session, in Edinburgh, Scotland, June 4, 1994, titled "Movement of Destiny."
With the truths of God removed, the church must find some other means of keeping the membership happy. This is exactly why many SDA churches are converting over to a Celebration format for their worship service. But there is nothing to "celebrate" in giving up God's truth and embracing error!
Since our SDA religion has been officially changed, and the fundamental principles that sustained the work have been accounted as error, the organization of the SDA church--that was once founded upon these principles--would also need to be changed. This brings us to the third event in the Series of Apostasy.

372. "God cannot use men who, in time of peril, when
the strength, courage, and influence of all are needed, are afraid to take a
firm stand for the right. He calls for men who will do faithful battle against
the wrong, warring against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. It is to
such as these that He will speak the words: 'Well done, good and faithful
servant...enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.'" Prophets and Kings, p 142.

379. "It is true that spiritualism is now changing its
form and, veiling some of its more objectionable features, is assuming a
Christian guise....Love is dwelt upon as the chief attribute of God, but it is
degraded to a weak sentimentalism, making little distinction between good and
evil. God's justice, His denunciations of sin, the requirements of His holy law,
are all kept out of sight." Great Controversy, p 557-58.

partakers of the divine nature. Only thus can we gain success in our striving
for eternal life." Upward Look, p 284.

testified to its immutable character and proved that through His grace it could
be perfectly obeyed by every son and daughter of Adam." Mount of Blessings, p

character. If you come to this decision, you will certainly fail of obtaining
everlasting life. The impossibility lies in your own will." Christ's Object
Lessons, p 331.
385. "Its advocates teach that sanctification is an
instantaneous work, by which, through faith alone, they attain to perfect
holiness. `Only believe,' say they, `and the blessing is yours.'...The testimony
of the word of God is against this ensnaring doctrine of faith without works. It
is not faith that claims the favor of heaven without complying with the
conditions upon which mercy is to be granted, it is presumption..." Great
Controversy, p 471-72.
